5-Star International Dining is Coming to Farmville, Virginia
The new Maxine’s Names the World-Renown Thomas Abrahamsson as Executive Chef.
Farmville, VA - January 15, 2009 – The Manor Resort is bringing elegant fine dinning to Farmville, Prince Edward County and the Virginia Piedmont with the opening of Maxine’s. Slated to open in mid-March at the new Manor Resort Spa & Residential Estate development, Maxine’s will feature exquisite international fusion cuisine designed and prepared by award-winning Executive Chef Thomas Abrahamsson.
Michael Heffernan, Manager, Herberton Virginia Development, LLC, says, “Maxine’s will be the first of its kind to the area. With someone of the caliber of Chef Abrahamsson, it will place Maxine’s in the forefront of the culinary scene in south central Virginia.” This is a precursor to our fine dining facility which will be an integral part of our restored 1840’s Manor House scheduled to commence in the spring, As the iconic center of our hospitality village, The Manor House will be surrounded by our golf, lake and spa cottage villages that comprise our guest rooms and suites, spa and conference center.
A native of Sweden, Executive Chef Abrahamsson’s extensive 29-years of experience has found him in assortments of kitchens all over the world including Austria, Australia, Bahrain and The West Indies. It has also allowed him to prepare meals not only for the Swedish Royal Family but also for President Clinton, the PGA tour and various Hollywood stars.
Abrahamsson says his “strength” is international Cuisine with weight on French Country and Thai Cuisine being his favorite. He plans on bringing a fresh and unique daily menu to Maxine’s that is a fusion of hearty international cuisine and local flavor.
“It is an honor to be part of The Manor Resort in Farmville and its surrounding areas,” says Chef Abrahamsson. “I look forward to introducing new flavors and signature dishes along with seasonal specialties that incorporate local ingredients supplied by local producers”. His own Chef’s Garden on the grounds of The Manor Resort will also add to his Gastronomic Philosophy of “ripe with Quality, Flavor and Accessibility”.
The charismatic Abrahamsson has participated in television cooking demonstrations and was awarded a Gold Medal for Culinary Excellence from The Culinary Institute of America and selected one of the Top Ten Sous Chef in America by Bert Olli 2002.
In the U.S. he has worked as Executive Sous Chef at the prestigious San Sedro Ranch in Santa Barbara; CA, Executive Chef at Tuba Country Club, Tucson, AZ, and Executive Chef at The Mayflower Inn, Washington CT.
Along with it’s fresh and organic menu, Maxine’s will feature a full bar and Sunday brunch and will be available for weddings and private, business and social events. Maxine’s offers seating for 40 with seating for an additional 40 outdoors that features beautiful views of The Manor Lake and pristine landscape.
Maxine’s will be located in the heart of The Manor Resort on Farmville Road (U.S. Highway 15), 1 mile south Highway of 460 Bypass, one mile from historic downtown Farmville.
